Coaches 2011-12

 

Greg Maestas - Head Coach - A Colorado native, he attended Adams City High School and holds a B.A. and M.A. from Western State College.  A former two time All-American wrestler at Western State, he has taught and coached in the Cherry Creek School District for 32 years with the past 13 years at Grandview.  He was selected Colorado Coach of the year in 1988 and 1997.  His teams have won the League or Regional Championships in 1990, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 2003, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 11 and finished 9 times in the top 5 at the state tournament.  Greg has coached 196 State Qualifiers, 84 State Placers, 13 State Champions, 8 High School All-Americans and 2 High School National Champions.  He is past president of the Scholastic Division of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.  He was inducted into the Western State Hall of Fame in October 2010 as a wrestler.  Greg teaches in the Physical Education Department.  Coach Maestas and his wife Elsa have one son, Joey, who is a graduate student at Columbia University.

Rob Combs - Assistant Coach - Rob attended Curtis High School in Tacoma, Washington where he played football and ran track.  He was an Honorable Mention All-State football player and First Team All-State Academic his senior year.  Rob also was an All-State track sprinter.  After high school he attneded the United Stats Air Force Academy where he played linebacker.  In 1991, he transferred to Washington State University where he finished his football playing career and earned a degree in Material Science and Engineering in 1994.  He then attended Eastern Washington University where he earned a second degree in Mechanical Engineering.  In 1999, Rob received his masters degree in teaching.  He currently teaches Technology Education at Grandview High School.  This will be Rob's 7th year as a wrestling coach at Grandview.  He brings a sincere passion for coaching and working with student athletes.  Coach Combs is excited about the upcoming season and working with each of the Wolves wrestlers.  Coach Combs is married to Angie and they have three beautiful daughters.  Taven (13), Cora (2) and Brenley (1).

Brian Timberman - Assistant Coach - Brian was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado.  He attended Grandview High School where he played football and wrestled.  He was All Conference in both football and wrestling and placed 6th in State in 2004.  Brian went to Adams State College where he played football and earned his B.A. in Human Performance and Physical Education.  This is his fourth year coaching high school wrestling.  Brian teaches Physical Education and Health and also is a football coach.

Ryan Budd - Assistant Coach - Ryan was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado.  He wrestled at Grandview from 2000 - 2004 and during that time he was a 4 time State Qualifier, 3 time State Placer and High School All-American.  Ryan wrestled in the PAC 10 and he was a 3 time varsity letter winner for the Cal State Fullerton Titans.  This is his 3rd year coaching wrestling and his second year at Grandview.  He is excited to be back at Grandview and he is ready to give back to the program he was a part of.

Gary Lovely - Gary retired from the Air Force with 20 years of service.  He is originally from Soda Springs, Idaho.  He has a degree in Information Technology.  He started wrestling in grade school and continued through High School.  He is married to Sarah and they have two children.  Trevor (16) and Laura (13).
