WOLVES YOUTH
WRESTLING CLUB (www.wolveswrestling.com)
Wolves
Youth Wrestling Club (WYWC) is preparing for their seventh season of
continued growth and success under the direction of the entire coaching
staff from the 2003/2004 season.
For ages 4 to 14, the Wolves
Youth Wrestling Club is dedicated to preparing children for life's
experiences through the sport of wrestling by promoting the values of
sportsmanship, discipline, commitment, integrity, self-esteem, physical and
mental conditioning, community service and academics. The goal at WYWC
is to be recognized as a youth wrestling organization with the highest
quality wrestlers, parents and coaches in the state of
Colorado
.
PRACTICE
Practices will be held in
the evenings in the wrestling room at
Grandview
High School
. If the school is closed
for scheduled break, or bad weather, practice will be cancelled.
Practices will be on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s from
5:30-6:30 PM
for Beginning and Novice
wrestlers and
6:30-8:00 PM
for Intermediate and Advanced. Friday nights will be
“open” for all wrestlers from
6 – 7 PM
(light workout with games)
and
7 – 9 PM
(serious workout). The
season will begin on Tuesday, October 19. Intermediate and Advanced
practices are by invitation only.
These times are subject to
change.
COMPETITION
Starting in January, the
Wednesday night practice becomes a competition night where WYWC competes
against the other schools in the South
Suburban Wrestling League (SSWL). SSWL sponsors two tournaments. The
Cherry Creek Christmas Tournament and the Conference Championships.
Wrestlers will be paired as closely as possible by age group and weight.
These competitions are most suited for the Beginning and Novice wrestler.
Western Suburban Wrestling League,
of which WYWC is also a member, sponsors a competitive tournament each
Sunday, starting in October and ending with the Colorado State Youth
Collegiate Wrestling Tournament on January 29 and 30, 2005. Wrestlers are
placed in a bracket based on their age as of
January 1st,
2005
and weight as of the time of tournament weigh-in. These
competitions are most suited for the Intermediate and Advanced wrestler.
Some WSWL tournaments offer Novice brackets.
PARENTS
There will be a mandatory parent meeting on
Wednesday, November 3, 2004
at
the
Grandview
wrestling room during the practice sessions to learn more about the club and
what to expect for the coming season. The
sport of wrestling requires parental involvement and positive support for
the development of the child’s self-confidence and technique.
Parents are encouraged to attend practices and actively participate.
ALL parents will be REQUIRED
to assist in the Wolves Youth Wrestling Club Tournament which is scheduled
for
Sunday, December 12th, 2004
plus one additional duty throughout the season. Additional duties include
the end of season party planning, picture scheduling, coaching,
registration, equipment manager, public relations/community service, fund
raising and statistician.
REGISTRATION
Registration fees are $100.00 for the first child and $75.00 for each
additional child in the immediate family. Included
in the registration fee is a club t-shirt, an individual and team picture and
paid entry into three tournaments. Singlet's
